Entertainment matters. 

It’s where we laugh, cry, and get our hearts racing. It’s where we go when we are upset, bored, or want to remember what it feels like to be excited. It is part of who we are.

Entertainment is more readily available and more eagerly consumed today than ever before. Stories told at the village campfire have been replaced by an endless supply of film, television, and short form content available in our hands, that is expertly crafted to re-affirm beliefs and support ideas we already have. As a species, we have more than we ever have before. And yet we are less content. We consume more. We are lonely.

But where there is a problem, there is always an opportunity. And no matter how broken things may seem, or how futile our efforts may feel in the grand scheme of things, or how small our dreams feel in the face of the mountain that is reality, deep down there is a still small voice reminding us that:

We matter. 

If you’re quiet enough, you can hear it now.

Entertainment is a part of who we are.

The stories we choose to listen to, tell, and retell are shaping not only us but generations to come. What we give our attention, matters. It affects our beliefs, our actions, our lives, and all of those around us. Each of us is in a greater Story, one that connects us all to each other and a world that is being made new. Each one of us matters.

Thus, we must make things that matter.

Some people make coffee, cars, or chocolate chip cookies.

We make movies.
